5.9 degrees earthquake shook northeastern Japan

An earthquake of 5.9 magnitude on the Richter scale struck early this morning the northeast coast of Japan near the provinces of Miyagi and Fukushima, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake occurred at 4.24 pm (24.08 GMT) and the epicenter was located a few kilometers from the east coast of Honshu Island at a depth of 37.7 kilometers, and so far no damage reported importance.
The earthquake was located near the battered Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, although it has reported problems at the facility, in which the electric operators TEPCO still working to stabilize the reactors.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter was located near the areas most affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 9 degrees, the provinces of Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima.
Japan's Meteorological Agency issued on this occasion no tsunami warning.
