5.1 earthquake hits east coast of Japan
HONG KONG / AFP A magnitude 5.1 earthquake occurred today at 04:27 h local (19:27 H GMT) near the east coast of Japan, said the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey - U.S. seismological service).
The quake, with a depth of six miles, originated near the coast of Honshu, the largest Japanese island, at 04:27 pm on Sunday and about 91 kilometers from Tokyo.
There was no tsunami warning issued.
On 11 March, a magnitude 9 earthquake generated a devastating tsunami that caused 22.000 deaths or missing, and triggered a crisis in the central atomic Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power in the Northeast.
