An earthquake of 6.8 magnitude on the Richter scale struck today Nagano Prefecture in central Japan, and caused several injuries, as reported by the fire department in the region to Kyodo news agency.

The quake has not enabled the tsunami warning, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

At the quake, which occurred at 22.08 local time (14.08 GMT) in northern Nagano prefecture, with hypocenter to 10 kilometers deep, we have followed two strong aftershocks.
